What is Ano?

Ano is a team chat application with Claude Code integrated directly into it, positioned as the #1 Slack alternative for AI-native teams. It transforms chat into an execution platform where messages turn into action through Claude Code as the engine. Every CLI and MCP (Model Context Protocol) tool you already use becomes accessible directly from the chat interface.

Key features include local-first sync for sub-millisecond rendering and instant scrolling, Claude Code in every channel (press ⌘J anywhere with channel context), terminal integration that puts chat in your shell, and channel workflows for automating repeat work. It supports over 2,000 integrations through Pipedream, is keyboard-first with ⌘K for search and tools, and works with Linear, GitHub, Vercel, Notion, Figma, Slack, Stripe, Docker, and Google tools.

Ano is built for every task in a company including code review, feedback clustering, sales CRM access, documentation, and operations. It's designed for AI-native teams who want to stay in flow without switching tabs, including engineers, sales teams, marketing, support, and non-engineers who can use CLIs and MCP servers for tools like HubSpot, Notion, and Stripe.

Frequently asked questions about Ano

How is this free?

You bring your own Claude Code account, so prompts go direct to Anthropic - that's where the heavy compute lives. Ano runs the chat infrastructure themselves and chooses not to pass that cost on. It's free for the whole company.

Do I need a Claude subscription?

Yes - you'll need a Claude Code account (any plan, including free tiers). Ano uses your account directly. That's the whole business model: they don't resell tokens.

Can non-engineers use it?

Absolutely. HubSpot has a CLI. Notion, Stripe, Intercom, Figma, Jira - all have CLIs or MCP servers. Sales pulls deal data, marketing runs campaigns, support triages tickets. Claude Code does the typing.

What's under the hood for integrations?

Pipedream - a battle-tested workflow platform with 2,000+ pre-built integrations. They use it instead of reinventing OAuth and rate limits for every tool, so you get GitHub, Linear, Stripe, Notion, Slack and the rest from day one.

What are Coworkers?

Custom agents you define: a prompt, a set of tools, a personality. Invite them to channels. They read messages, execute tools, @mention you when stuck. Your sales coworker knows HubSpot; your research one reads arXiv.

Is my data secure?

TLS on every connection. Your Claude Code prompts go straight from your app to Anthropic under your own account - they never see them. They host workspace content so multi-device sync and search work; end-to-end encryption is on the roadmap, not shipped yet. SSO via WorkOS.

How is Ano different from Slack?

Slack moves messages, Ano moves work. Same channels, threads, and DMs - plus Claude Code, your terminal, and every tool you already pay for, runnable from the message box. Slack is cloud-first, Ano is local-first. Slack has bolt-on assistant AI, Ano has Claude Code built in. Slack charges $8.75/user/month, Ano is free.

What platforms does Ano support?

Free macOS and iOS apps. The full interactive demo lives on desktop. Currently no Windows or Linux version is mentioned on the website.

Can I trigger workflows automatically?

Yes. Trigger workflows from chat, on a schedule, or when something changes in another tool. You can check status, summarize changes, create issues, draft follow-ups, and post the result back into the right channel.

How does the terminal integration work?

Ano puts your chat in your shell. Send messages, reply to threads, and trigger workflows directly from any terminal on your computer. Stay in flow without leaving your terminal. Output pipes straight back into chat so the whole team sees what happened.
