What is Auphonic?
Auphonic is an automatic audio post production webservice that acts as an audio autopilot for podcasts, broadcasts, radio, interviews, audiobooks, and lecture recordings. The service uses intelligent audio algorithms combining AI and signal processing to analyze and process audio and video content without requiring complicated parameter settings or audio expert knowledge from users.
Key features include intelligent loudness normalization and leveling, noise and reverb reduction, filtering with AutoEQ and BWE (bass width extension), multilingual speech recognition, automatic generation of shownotes and chapters, filler and silence cutting, video support with audiograms, and automatic publishing to external services. The platform also offers advanced features like automatic music segment removal, mic bleed remover for multitrack productions, static denoiser for steady background noise, de-cough feature to remove respiratory noises, and RMS-based normalization specifically for Audible/ACX audiobook compliance.

Frequently asked questions about Auphonic
How is billing calculated for Auphonic productions?
Billing is based on the duration of the audio files sent for processing in milliseconds, with a minimum processing time of 3 minutes per production to avoid spam attacks. If you process a 20-minute audio file with a 1-minute intro, the processing time is 21 minutes. You can use as many output files (MP3, AAC, etc.) or input tracks (multitrack productions) as you want, and the charged processing time will always stay the same.
What is the difference between One-Time and Recurring credits?
One-Time credits are one-time purchases that never expire and can be used whenever you like (pay as you go). Recurring credits charge a monthly fee for a fixed amount of credits at a lower per-credit price, but unused credits do not roll over at the end of the month. Recurring monthly credits are used first, then one-time credits are added on top. They can be combined if you occasionally need more than your monthly limit.
Can I edit my production without additional costs?
Yes, you can edit your production without additional costs as long as you use the same input files in the same production. If you change one of your input files or create a new production, you will be charged again for the new processing.
When are credits charged for a production?
Credits are charged only if your production was successful. If the production fails, no credits are used.
How do I get a refund if my production fails?
Yes, please use the Refund credits link on the production page to send a description of the problem, and all used credits will be refunded to your account.
How are multitrack productions billed?
Multitrack productions are billed based on the duration of the output audio file in the same way as all other productions. For example, a 1-hour, 4-track production (4 files of 1 hour each) will produce a 1-hour output file and will require 1 hour of credits, regardless of the number of input tracks.
Can I auto-renew my one-time credits?
Yes, click on the Enable auto-renew option when purchasing one-time credits. When enabled, your credits are automatically topped up by the selected one-time package whenever your balance falls below 1-10 hours. Credits never expire and you can cancel anytime in your account settings.
What features are included in the free plan?
The free plan includes 2 hours of processed audio monthly, intelligent leveler, noise & reverb reduction, filtering/AutoEQ/BWE, loudness specifications, multitrack productions under 20 minutes, filler & silence cutting, encoding/metadata/chapters, video support & audiograms, connect to external services, automatic publishing, API access, CLI access, and includes the Auphonic jingle. Basic support is provided. Multilingual speech recognition, automatic shownotes/chapters, watch folders, and batch productions are not included.
Do I need to provide payment information to sign up?
No, you can sign up for free without having to enter any information besides your email address. Payment details are only requested once you choose one of the paid plans or decide to buy one-time credits.
What happens when I run out of free credits?
When you run out of free credits, you cannot start any new productions. To process more audio, you can purchase a recurring subscription plan or buy one-time credits on the pricing page. One-time credits can be combined with recurring credits for occasional extra usage.
