What is Productboard?

Productboard is an intelligent product management platform designed specifically for product managers and their teams to build customer-centric products. The platform helps product teams understand what customers really need, prioritize the most impactful product initiatives, and align everyone around the product roadmap. It serves over 6,000 companies including Zoom, Microsoft, Cartier, and Salesforce, enabling them to uncover customer needs, drive strategic alignment, and rally teams around roadmaps.

Key features include centralized insights that aggregate customer feedback from sources like Intercom, Zendesk, Slack, and email into a single searchable repository; dynamic roadmapping that creates tailored views for different audiences (executives, engineering teams, customers); prioritization frameworks with custom scoring using RICE, WSJF, ROI, and custom drivers; a customer-facing Product Portal for sharing plans and collecting votes; and the new Spark AI agent that drafts PRDs, analyzes feedback at scale, and generates competitive analyses. The platform also offers integrations with Jira, Salesforce, and other tools, plus teamspaces for organized collaboration.

Productboard is purpose-built for product decision-makers including product managers, CPOs, product ops teams, and product-led organizations ranging from fast-scaling startups to enterprise businesses. It's ideal for teams struggling with scattered feedback, unclear priorities, or disconnect between product strategy and execution. Leadership gains visibility into progress, developers receive clearer context on what matters, sales and customer success teams delight customers with the right roadmap, and marketing coordinates launches effectively.

Frequently asked questions about Productboard

What is a credit in Productboard Spark?

Credits power all AI interactions in Productboard Spark. Every time you use Spark's AI capabilities like creating documents, analyzing customer feedback, or generating competitive analyses, you use credits. Different tasks consume different amounts depending on complexity: analyzing 100 customer insights uses 3-5 credits, while creating a comprehensive product requirements document may use 85-95 credits. With 250 credits per maker per month, you have enough capacity to complete approximately 4-5 full initiatives plus additional exploration and iteration.

What happens when I run out of Spark credits?

You'll still have full access to your workspace, documents, and notes - nothing gets locked or deleted. However, you won't be able to use Spark's AI features until your credits reset on your next monthly renewal date or you purchase additional credits. As you approach your credit limit, you'll see notifications in Spark letting you know your status and how to get more credits if you need them.

Can I buy more credits if I need them?

Yes. If you need more credits before your renewal date, you can purchase credit top-ups directly from your workspace. For monthly plans, credits are available in 50-credit bundles for $5 per bundle. For annual plans, you can purchase 600-credit bundles for $60 per year (distributed as 50 credits per month). You can buy as many bundles as needed, and if you purchase mid-cycle, both cost and credits are pro-rated for your first period.

How do I get started with Spark?

When you sign up for Spark, you automatically start with 150 credits for your workspace - enough to complete 1-2 full initiatives like creating a product brief and competitive analysis plus additional exploration. The 150 credits are free and do not expire, so you can try Spark at your own pace. But they're a one-time allocation and won't renew each month. Once used, you'll still have full workspace access but won't be able to use AI features until upgrading to a paid plan.

Can I add Spark to my existing Productboard workspace?

Spark is currently available as a standalone workspace separate from your existing Productboard account. If you're an existing Starter, Essentials, or Pro plan customer and want to try Spark, you can sign up for a new Spark workspace by clicking the try Spark button. If you're an Enterprise customer interested in enabling Spark within your existing workspace, contact your account representative to discuss beta access options or click the contact sales button.

What data does Spark use?

Spark can access any documents you provide in your workspace in addition to customer feedback notes and associated data. In the near future, Spark will be able to access additional product data in your workspace to carry out more actions and provide more responses. Spark follows Productboard's standard security and privacy practices. Your data remains within your workspace and is not used to train external AI models. For more information, see Productboard's AI Terms.

How can I create a new portal in Productboard?

If you're a workspace admin, you can create a new portal by clicking on the portal name in the top left; from the drop-down menu, click Add a new portal. This allows you to set up a customer-facing portal where you can share your plans and collect feedback at scale.

Can customers see all feedback submitted on a portal card?

No, customers will only see the number of people who voted on a card but not the feedback others provided. This protects individual customer feedback privacy while still showing community interest through vote counts.

Are portals searchable by customers?

Yes, when your customers view your portal, they can search for features and provide direct feedback on that portal card. This makes it easy for customers to find relevant features and submit their feedback without navigating through multiple pages.

Can portals support multiple languages?

Yes, although this functionality is currently in Labs. A maker admin of your workspace can enable this functionality to support multiple languages on your portal. To learn more, see the article LABS: Localize your customer-facing Portal in the Productboard help center.
