You can also use Weld Managed BigQuery, a destination fully set up by Weld that's free up to 1TB stored data and 5TB queries per month.
What is a connector?
A connector links Weld to apps, files, ad platforms, and databases to move data to and from them. Each connector supports as many syncs as you need. Weld offers 100+ pre-built connectors for popular marketing, sales, finance, and database applications. You can connect multiple data sources to the same connector type, such as multiple Shopify stores or Facebook Ad accounts.
Do I need to know SQL to use Weld?
No, you don't need SQL. Weld's primary role is moving data reliably into your warehouse, so you can use downstream tools like Python, BI tools, or other platforms without SQL. If you prefer working inside Weld, you can use Ed (the AI SQL assistant) to help build data models and fix SQL errors, or write transformations directly with SQL in Weld Transform.
Does Weld store my data?
No, Weld does not store your data. Weld is only responsible for the movement of data from source to destination, helping you transfer data ready for analysis, activation, and insights. All your data is stored in your connected destination (data warehouse), not in Weld's platform.
What is Change Data Capture (CDC)?
CDC continuously tracks inserts, updates, and deletes in a source database and propagates only those changes downstream. It reads from the database's transaction log or native change stream, avoiding repeated full-table scans and enabling low-latency replication. CDC complements batch ETL - use CDC for low-latency changes and batch ETL for initial loads, backfills, or when hourly/daily freshness is enough. Weld supports CDC for PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.
What are Active Rows?
Active Rows refer to data rows that are updated or inserted during the data syncing process between data sources. Active Rows typically represent 10-20% of total rows synced. The number of Active Rows included depends on your subscription plan. You can track usage in Settings → Billing and view row usage by connector or table breakdown in Data Sources → Usage tab.
Can I connect a BI tool to Weld?
Yes. Weld loads your data directly into your own warehouse or storage, where you can connect any BI tool of your choice. Common destinations include Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks. Popular BI tools that connect include Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, and Mode. Note that BI tool connection is not available on Weld Managed BigQuery - you should set up your own destination first.
What if I can't find the connector I need?
Weld constantly builds new integrations based on customer demand. Reach out through the chat in your workspace to add it to the backlog. Why do I see data discrepancies between Weld and the source system?
Discrepancies can occur due to API limitations, data processing delays, timezone differences, or data aggregation method differences. Common examples include: Google Search Console (daily API limits), Amazon Ads (pending orders, timezone shifts, attribution windows, limited retention period), and Google Analytics 4 (data sampling and HyperLogLog algorithm). Some connectors like Amazon only allow access to data from the past 60 days due to API retention limits.
