Frequently asked questions about whisperbridge live translation
How many languages does Whisperbridge support?
Whisperbridge supports 12 languages directly in your browser on phone or laptop with nothing to install.
How does the voice cloning work?
The app clones the speaker's voice so the translation still sounds like them - warm and human, unmistakably you. You record your own voice and confirm it's yours before anything is created, ensuring it won't clone someone else.
Do I need to install anything?
No, Whisperbridge runs in any browser - phone or laptop - with nothing for anyone to install.
Can more than two people use Whisperbridge?
No, Whisperbridge is designed specifically for two people who don't share a language. The main requirement is that you need TWO people speaking different languages simultaneously.
Is my voice sold or shared?
Never - they don't sell your voice. It's processed by their speech provider, Cartesia, only to generate your translations. The translated audio is generated on the fly and delivered just to the person on your call - they don't post, publish, or sell it.
What if I don't want to clone my voice?
If you prefer not to clone your voice, captions and a standard voice work just as well as an alternative.
How long is the delay in conversation?
There's natural back-and-forth with about a second of delay, making it a real conversation rather than stop-and-start subtitles.
Can I delete my voice data?
Yes, when you delete your account, they delete your voice from their systems and request its removal from their voice provider. You can also re-record your voice anytime.
Who built Whisperbridge?
Priyanshu is building Whisperbridge solo on his own. He created it because the people he cares about don't all share his language, and most translation tools flatten everyone into the same robot voice.
How do I get access if seats are full?
Whisperbridge is in limited beta and every seat is currently taken. You're on the waitlist and will be emailed the moment a seat opens up. They appreciate your patience.
