What is Thunderbit?
Thunderbit is a next-generation AI web scraper that extracts structured data from any website, PDF, or image in just 2 clicks without requiring any coding skills. Built primarily as a Chrome extension, it uses AI to understand web pages visually and semantically the way a human would, automatically identifying what data to extract and delivering clean spreadsheet-ready output. The tool is specifically designed for sales, marketing, operations, real estate, and e-commerce teams who need to gather leads, contact information, product data, and business insights at scale.
Key features include AI-powered extraction that describes what you want in plain English while Thunderbit handles selectors, pagination, and data types automatically; instant spreadsheet output that can be exported directly to Google Sheets, Airtable, or Notion; subpage scraping for collecting data from multiple linked pages; bulk scraping for processing URL lists; data enrichment to pull complete information about people in one click; and built-in scraping for popular sites like Amazon, eBay, and Google Maps that works in 1 click without AI. The platform also supports extraction from PDFs and images, contact info building, automated web automation, and scheduled scrapers with monitoring frequencies as low as 5 minutes.
Thunderbit serves over 200,000 active users across 120+ countries and has scraped over 100 million pages. It won #1 Product of the Week on Product Hunt and maintains a 4.3-star Chrome rating. The company was founded in 2024 with a privacy-by-design approach—they do not sell user data and do not train models on private workspaces. For developers, Thunderbit also offers a production-grade Open API with Distill (page to Markdown), Extract (JSON Schema to structured fields), and Batch (up to 100 URLs async with webhooks) endpoints.

Frequently asked questions about Thunderbit
How do I export extracted data?
Export is free to Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable, and Notion from all plans, including the free plan. You can also directly copy and paste to your favorite apps. The exported data is clean and column-structured, ready for immediate use.
Can I scrape sites that require login?
Today, no. You can pass cookies or auth tokens via the headers parameter for sites that accept them, but interactive login flows aren't supported via the API. Reach out to [email protected] for enterprise options.
What is the maximum page size Thunderbit can handle?
The maximum page size is 10 MB of HTML before processing. Pages exceeding this limit return a SCRAPE_CONTENT_TOO_LARGE error code.
How fresh is the data that Thunderbit extracts?
Default behavior fetches live data on every call. You can set forceRefresh: true to bypass any internal caching layer explicitly and ensure you get the most current data.
Can I run multiple batch jobs in parallel?
Yes. The per-batch limit is 100 URLs, but there's no cap on the number of concurrent batch jobs, subject to your plan's concurrency limits.
What happens if a single URL in a batch fails?
The batch keeps going. The failing URL gets status: FAILED with an error code, while the rest succeed. The job moves to COMPLETED once all URLs reach a terminal state.
Does Thunderbit respect robots.txt?
Thunderbit honors robots.txt for distillation by default. Enterprise plans can request an override on a per-domain basis with proof of authorization.
Can I use both schema and prompt on the extract endpoint?
No, they are mutually exclusive (SCHEMA_AND_PROMPT_EXCLUSIVE error). Today, schema is the only supported mode; prompt-only extraction is on the roadmap.
How do I get notified when a long batch job finishes?
Use the webhook field on submission to receive notifications. Polling works too, but webhooks are cheaper for jobs lasting longer than 1 minute.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email [email protected] or use the in-app contact form on the dashboard. Thunderbit tries to respond within one business day for product questions, partnership opportunities, or press inquiries.
