What is Woord?
Woord is an AI-powered text-to-speech (TTS) platform that converts any text content into high-quality, natural-sounding audio with realistic human-like voices. Users can input text by sharing a URL of an article, uploading text content, or using the Text-to-Speech API. The platform then synthesizes the text into audio that sounds like a person talking, which can be played instantly or downloaded as an MP3 file.
Key features include over 100 voices from 34 different languages with regional variations such as Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, and multiple English varieties (US, UK, Australia, India, Welsh). Woord offers unlimited audio creation with no character limit per audio file (up to 10,000 characters per audio for standard plans), MP3 download capability, and audio hosting with an HTML embed audio player. The platform includes smart voice technology using AI to emulating human-like natural sounding speech, an SSML editor for advanced voice control with emphasis and break tags, and API access for developers to integrate TTS capabilities into their applications.
Woord is designed for a wide range of users including content creators building podcasts from blog posts, developers creating e-learning modules and educational applications, businesses improving accessibility for blind and visually impaired users, companies building Interactive Voice Response systems for telephony, and developers creating quiz games, animations, avatars, or narration. The platform serves over 100,000 users and is suitable for converting blog posts, news articles, books, research papers, web pages, eBooks, and any other text content into audio podcasts or speeches.
The platform supports commercial use with users owning 100% intellectual property for all generated audio files, making it ideal for YouTube videos, e-Learning modules, advertisements, and other commercial purposes. Woord offers a Chrome extension that converts articles visited into speech or audio podcasts, and works across various devices including set-top boxes, smart watches, tablets, smartphones, and IoT devices.

No, paid subscriptions don't have a limit on the number of characters to convert per month. However, there is a limit of up to 10,000 characters per audio file for any plan. If you need more than 10,000 characters per audio, you need to contact Woord directly.
Can I choose between male and female voices?
Yes, you can choose between male and female voices. Woord also offers child voices. The voices differ by language, gender, and accent for some languages, giving users a wide selection of custom voices to pick from.
Can I listen to text in my documents and web pages with Woord?
Yes, you can listen to text in your documents, messages, presentations, scans, web pages, or notes using Woord. The Chrome extension specifically converts articles you visit into speech or audio podcasts, making it easy to consume web content as audio.
How do I cancel my Woord plan?
To cancel your plan, go to your account and cancel on the Billing page. Remember that to cancel your current subscription, you cannot create more than 2 audios in the month where you are canceling. Also, you will lose the features that you had when you purchased the plan. You can upgrade/downgrade or cancel with one click without questions asked.
What payment methods does Woord accept?
Woord accepts all major debit and credit cards through Stripe, one of the world's most reliable payment companies. If you have trouble paying by card, you can also pay using PayPal. Prices are listed in USD. The payment system uses the latest security technology.
Can I get a refund for my Woord subscription?
You may request a refund for your current month if you request it within 2 hours of the transaction, and it only applies to the first payment you receive. Woord reserves the right to decline the request if you use their software within this time. Unfortunately, Woord doesn't give refunds on renewals.
How does the billing cycle work for Woord plans?
Your billing cycle starts the day you purchase a plan and ends the same day of the next month (for monthly) or next year (for annual billing). However, the limit of audios you can make is renewed on the first day of each month. For example, if you buy a plan on April 10th, your audio credit activates that day, the next payment is made automatically on May 10th, but on May 1st the audio counter resets and starts again.
How can I modify audio speed or add pauses in Woord?
You have 2 options: 1) Modify speed before creating audio through Advanced options by choosing Voice Speed (1 is default, range 0.25 to 4.0, where 2.0 is twice as fast and 0.5 is half as fast). 2) Use the SSML editor at https://www.getwoord.com/ssml-editor to add pauses or modify speed using SSML tags. You can use the Break button to add pauses with different strength levels and the emphasis button to highlight text. SSML API support is only available for enterprise customers.
