What is Botpress?
Botpress is an all-in-one AI agent platform that enables developers and teams to build, deploy, and manage powerful AI chatbots powered by the latest LLMs. The platform provides a visual drag-and-drop flow builder in Botpress Studio, making it accessible for both developers and non-developers to create production-grade AI agents without extensive coding skills.
Key features include a custom inference engine called LLMz that coordinates agent behavior internally, knowledge bases that accept websites, documents (PDF, HTML, TXT, DOC, DOCX, MD), tables, web search, and rich text, human handoff capabilities for complex queries, conversation insights with sentiment analysis, multi-channel deployment (web, custom applications, voice), and integrations with WhatsApp, Telegram, Zapier, Zendesk, Notion, and Google Drive. The platform supports 100+ languages and offers bots-as-code functionality with a CLI for developers who prefer coding.
Botpress is designed for developers, engineering teams, enterprises looking to automate customer support, lead generation, and product recommendations, as well as hobbyists and solo developers experimenting with conversational AI. The platform is trusted by businesses worldwide including HOSTIFAI (75% resolution rate), WAIVER GROUP (9x increase in visitor engagement), and EXTENDLY (30% call reduction).

Frequently asked questions about Botpress
Which plan is right for me?
Choosing depends on your needs: Pay-as-you-go is perfect for hobbyists, solo developers, or those dipping into AI chatbots with essential tools at no cost. Plus is designed for getting a bot project off the ground while scaling cost-effectively, including one of each add-on with room for an additional bot and collaborator at 25% discount. Team is ideal for teams taking chatbot building to the next level or builders spending above $495 on limit increases. Managed is for organizations wanting Botpress experts to handle building, deployment, and maintenance. Enterprise is recommended for organizations requiring robust solutions with advanced features, comprehensive integrations, top-tier security, and premium support.
What is considered an incoming message & event?
An incoming message & event is any action that triggers bot activation. Only incoming messages & events that a bot listens to count towards the quota. Actions that count include: a user saying 'Hello' to a bot, a reaction being added to a message, a proactive trigger that opens the bot, a session timeout event, opening the Shareable URL, and publishing your bot (counts as 3 events). Actions that don't count include: a message sent by the bot in response to a user message, an execute code card, and flow transitions.
What is an AI Credit?
Every month, Botpress credits $5 USD to your workspace specifically allocated for AI token consumption. Actions consuming AI tokens include: Knowledge Base ingestion & answering, Personality Agent rewrites, Translator Agent language identification & message translation, Summary Agent conversation summarization, AI Task, AI Transition, and AI Generate Text cards, Execute Code card's generative AI code assist, Capture cards, making Table columns searchable, transforming user sentences to a vector, and website indexing. These apply both in conversation with the bot and in Studio while building and testing in the Emulator.
What happens after I reach my incoming messages & events limit?
After your workspace reaches its incoming messages & events limit, all bots corresponding to the workspace will stop responding. You have two options: wait until the first of the next month for message usage to reset, or purchase a limit increase for your workspace. Message limits are: Pay-as-you-go 500/month, Plus 5,000/month, Team 50,000/month. Additional messages cost $20/month for each additional 5,000 messages.
What happens after my monthly $5 AI Spend credit is completely consumed?
After your monthly $5 AI Spend credit is completely consumed, you must increase your AI Spend limit in your workspace for you or your bot to continue performing AI-based actions within that month. All AI Spend exceeding $5 in a month will be charged to the credit card corresponding to the workspace, calculated based on LLM tokens usage. Alternatively, you can wait until the next monthly period for your AI Spend credits to reset.
When do monthly limits and subscriptions reset?
Monthly limits reset the first day of every month at 05:00am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Your subscription will also auto-renew on the 1st of each month. If you sign up for a subscription in the middle of the month, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of that calendar month. Afterwards, your subscription will continue to renew as normal on the 1st of each month thereafter.
Is there a monthly limit to my AI Spend?
Yes, each plan introduces a maximum limit for AI Spend available on that Workspace. Pay-as-you-go & Plus Plan: $100/month. Team Plan: $500/month. Enterprise Plan: Custom limits. These limits ensure you can control your spending on LLM token consumption.
Can I white label Botpress?
White labelling is available for the Botpress webchat widget. Removing the Botpress watermark from this widget is available to Plus, Team, and Enterprise customers. If you are delivering agents to a third party like a client, you can white label and customize the branding of the end user's webchat experience. Botpress does not currently support white labelling the Studio or Dashboard.
What is Botpress for Good?
Botpress for Good is Botpress's commitment to furthering humanitarian causes by making Botpress more affordable for nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and open-source projects. To learn more about the program and potentially receive discounted pricing, you can submit an application through their website.
What actions consume vector DB storage?
When you make Tables searchable or use Documents, Text Documents, or Websites as a data source for your Knowledge Base, these actions consume vector DB storage. Vector DB storage is for knowledge your Bot uses to answer questions. Storage included: Pay-as-you-go 100MB, Plus 1GB, Team 2GB. Additional storage costs $20/month for each additional 1GB of Vector DB Storage.
