Each thread is read at draft time and discarded once the draft is written. You can disconnect your account anytime from the Ellie dashboard.

Which email clients are supported?
Auto-drafts via connected accounts work for Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, and Exchange Online. The browser extension covers Gmail Web and Outlook on the web. The Outlook desktop add-in covers classic Outlook for Windows, new Outlook desktop apps, and Outlook on the web. For other clients like Apple Mail or Fastmail, use the extension's popup to generate a reply and paste it in.
Why is there a limit on the number of replies?
Training AI and generating content costs money. Ellie is run by a small team without external funding, so they charge for their work. You can sign up for a paid plan to get more replies—Casual gives 25/day, Business gives 100/team/day, and Professional gives unlimited replies/day.
Why did you make Ellie?
Email is useful but the deal is rigged—anyone can put anything in front of you and you pay in time. Ellie was built to flip that by drafting replies in the background in your voice, so the inbox stops being the first hour of your day. You wake up to drafts, skim, tweak, and send. Some people use Ellie for reply anxiety, dyslexia assistance, or because writing in English doesn't come easily to them.
How does teaching Ellie new information work?
Documents and websites: Point Ellie at a file (PDF, DOCX, TXT) or URL and she reads/crawls it, summarizes policies and product details, and uses that information when needed. Re-indexing happens automatically. Structured data uploads: Upload CSV/spreadsheet exports from CRM, helpdesk, or order systems—Ellie keeps per-record structure for clean lookups. API integrations (coming soon) will connect CRM, helpdesk, billing, or e-commerce tools directly so Ellie pulls live records at draft time. Roles let teams give Ellie different knowledge bases and tones per position.

For example, a Customer Support role can have help documentation uploaded and Ellie acts as a 'Customer Support Specialist,' using that documentation when replying. You can also instruct Ellie on how to reply while in that role. If you perform various different tasks via email, Roles are perfect—you pick the right role per email or switch manually. Ellie won't make up facts not in her source material.
